Fair launches

Early-bird prices only feel fair if they work as promised. TierStep protects every launch in four ways.

One order can't jump a tier

If 3 units are left at the current price, a shopper can add at most 3 to the cart. This works on the classic checkout and the Cart and Checkout blocks. If someone else buys the last units while a shopper is checking out, they see a clear message instead of an old price.

Checkout holds

When an order is placed, its early-bird units are held while the customer pays, so two buyers can't take the same last units at the same moment. The second shopper is told the price just changed.

A hold ends when the order is paid, fails or is cancelled, or after 15 minutes. Change the time, or turn holds off with 0, in Settings.

Limit per customer

Set Limit per customer on the TierStep Pricing tab, for example 3, so one buyer can't take a whole cheap tier.

  • Earlier orders in the same campaign count toward the limit.
  • Customers are matched by account and by billing email, so guests are covered too.
  • Logged-in shoppers are stopped when adding to the cart; everyone is checked again at checkout.
  • The limit only applies while an early-bird price is active.

Refunds give units back

When units bought during a campaign are refunded, they stop counting as sold, so the tier they came from reopens. Partial refunds count too, and no unit is ever counted twice. Untick Refunds give units back on a campaign to keep refunded units counted.
